This trip was just incredible. From the first day on it was full of surprises. First of all I didn’t start alone down to the south, but was accompanied by Daniel, David and Klaus. After we arrived in Pucon we immediately booked the tour to climb Volcano Villarica for the next day and decided to raft down the Rio Trancuro. This was a great adventure, whereas the 5th man on board wasn’t that happy to share the boat with 4 crazy young adventurers. We concluded the outdoor trip with a great burger (volcano style) and couple pitchers of beer. In the camping we were looking for a nice spot and found one near to the beach and to a tent occupied by four Chilean girls. We ended up chatting with them until 1 am and went to bed for just 1.5 hours before we started our climb up to the crater of Volcano Villarica.
On the way up we saw the red glimmer of the lava from the nearby Volcano Llama. We had to use the ice axe to reach the peak where we were welcomed by an acid smoke. The view inside the volcano was just as awesome as the landscape surrounding us. Back at the camping we started to enjoy our vacations by just doing nothing except of lying at the beach, sleeping, eating and hanging around with the girls.
4 guys, 4 girls, 1 camping, call it a good combination
Our trip went on to the city of Valdivia, the beer capital of Chile. We checked out the local beers, improved our Frisbee skills and visited the Kunstmann brewery. After David left for Santiago we went on to Puerto Montt where we meet with 3 of the girls from the camping – they decided to keep traveling with us. We went on to Castro on the Island of Chiloé. Unluckily we got a lot of rain, but we could admire the lake dwellings and the wooden church. Then the other two guys left us and soon also two of the girls decided to rest for a couple days in Puerto Varas. Hence, Daisy and me went on traveling alone and headed down to Quellon, the end of the Panamericana. Soon we went back to Puerto Montt and Puerto Varas and then crossed the border to Bariloche. There we met the other two girls again and enjoyed the lake and the mountains of this beautiful area. We had Argentinean meat; we saw the full moon rising over the lake and also experienced a lunar eclipse.
Our group split up again and Daisy and I went on to El Bolson, a nice, small but mystic city. We visited the nearby National Park Lago Puelo which we left with amazing impressions. We continued our trip up to Mendoza and reached Santiago just two days before my departure.
There are two things in life: frisbee and frisbee practice
This trip had something of everything: friends, good food and beer, relations, outdoor adventures, meeting new people, camping and trekking, amazing landscapes and insight in some more personal questions.
